HOME & HOSED DOWN
Oil on Canvas
12 x 9 inches

HOME AND HOSED DOWN

Oil on Canvas

12 x 9 inches

This painting was done for the horse’s owner in the UK.

I like the calmness of a stable so in this painting I wanted the horse‘s home to be as important as the animal itself.

DARTMOOR

South west England

Oil on canvas

36 x 16 inches.

I recently reworked this painting after starting it about 30 years ago.

Although Dartmoor is the location of one of the UK's most infamous prisons, the sheep are free to wander wherever the want.

OSPREY HUNTING

South Florida

Acrylic on Canvas

36 x 24 inches

Ospreys are often seen scouring the coastline in search of fish.

The sharp contrast between the bird and the intensely blue sky is always an impressive thing to see.

JUDE

Oil on panel

12 x9 inches

This portrait was a commission from a stable owner in the UK.

Getting a likeness in a human isn't always easy. Getting a likeness in a horse is even more of a challenge.

DOWNY WOODPECKER

Oil and acrylic on Canvas

8 x 8

I saw this one on a tree outside the window.

I grabbed a camera and managed to get a couple of shots before he flew off.

HERDWICK SHEEP

The Lake District

England

Oil on canvas

8x8 inches

Herdwick sheep are a breed that's native to the Lake District in North West England.

This was intended to be a study for the following painting but it seems work quite nicely on its own.

SHEEP IN HIGH PLACES

The Lake District

England

Oil on canvas

24 x12 inches

Herdwick sheep are often found up hills and mountains, quietly munching on whatever they find up there.

They are domesticated but are left to wander freely in all sorts of weather until it's time to bring them in for shearing.

EXERCISING FILOU

oil on canvas

10x8 inches

In this sketch I tried to capture the control that the rider had over the horse.

AVOCET

Oil on canvas

12 x 24

A loosly painted image of one of North America's most beautiful birds.
