CHECKING HIS MESSAGES
Atwater market Montreal
Oil on canvas
8x8 inches
This is one of a series of small paintings influenced by the photographer Vivian Maier.
She created outstanding, beautifully composed images using only natural light and a 2 1/4 square camera– no models, no studio lighting– just talent.
WAITING FOR HIS WIFE
Oil on canvas
8x8 inches
This man looked like he was tired of walking around the market.
His wife went off to finish their shopping leaving him with a glass of water and some time to think.
FIVE ROSES
Montreal
Oil on canvas
16 x 16 inches
The iconic Five Roses sign is a protected, Montreal landmark.
So when the building was sold to one of Five Rose's competitors, it put the new owners in the unfortunate position of having to display it's competitors name.
THE LACHINE CANAL
Atwater market clock tower
and Charlevoix bridge
Oil and acrylic on canvas
30x20 inches
This is the view from the
Des Seigneurs bridge.
Looking at this picturesque, treelined waterway, it's hard to imagine the enormous contribution this canal made to development of commerce and industry in Canada.
THE NORTH BANK OF THE CANAL
Montreal
Oil on wooden panel
14 x14 inches
Deep snow, a heavy sky and a bleak view
up the canal.
The signs are a welcome reminder of how it will all come back to life in Spring.
CANAL BACKWATER
near Rue Des Seigneurs
Montreal
Oil on canvas
16x16 inces
This was an offshoot of the main Lachine canal in Montreal.
These days, with the overhanging trees and bushes, it feels more like a rural waterway.
The light, shadows and reflections make it all look rather abstract..
