This man looked like he was tired of walking around the market.

His wife went off to finish their shopping leaving him with a glass of water and some time to think.

FIVE ROSES

The iconic Five Roses sign is a protected, Montreal landmark.

So when the building was sold to one of Five Rose's competitors, it put the new owners in the unfortunate position of having to display it's competitors name.

THE LACHINE CANAL

This is the view from the 

Des Seigneurs bridge.

Looking at this picturesque, treelined waterway, it's hard to imagine the enormous contribution this canal made to development of commerce and industry in Canada.

The signs are a welcome reminder of how it will all come back to life in Spring.

This was an offshoot of the main Lachine canal in Montreal.

These days, with the overhanging trees and bushes, it feels more like a rural waterway.

The light, shadows and reflections make it all look rather abstract..
